Secretary of State (2005-2009)

Dr. Rice, a Palo Alto resident and political economy professor at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business, served as assistant to the president for national security affairs (national security advisor) from 2001-2005 before serving as the 66th secretary of state from 2005-2009. Dr. Rice was Stanford’s Provost from 1993-1999. She has served on the board of directors for several private sector companies, including Chevron, Charles Schwab and Transamerica Corporation. Dr. Rice is also co-founder of the Center for a New Generation, an after-school program created to raise the high school graduation numbers of East Palo Alto and eastern Menlo Park and sits on the board of the Boys & Girls Club of America. Forbes named Dr. Rice the most powerful woman in the world in both 2004 and 2005.

Canadian chanteuse Chantal Kreviazuk will bring her scintillating talents to An Evening to Remember. The singer-songwriter has dazzled audiences throughout the world, both in person – at events such as Lileth Fair – and on several albums. Her first album, released in 1997, went platinum. Billboard magazine said, “Her performance is a virtual rollercoaster of emotion, illuminating the poetry of her lyrics with an aching growl.” In addition to being a stellar performing artist, Chantal has written songs for a variety of talents including Gwen Stefani, Mandy Moore, Carrie Underwood,  Avril Lavigne, and many more.
